Etude House: Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails

Last week my mom returned from her vacation in Vietnam. Before she left, I had asked her to buy some Asian beauty products. However, it turns out that my favor turned out to be harder than anticipated. The only brand she was able to find sold reputably was Etude House.

This little set is apparently called #1 Screw Driver. I guess it's supposed to sound like a clever name for a drink. I don't know if I can agree. As the box states, the idea behind the three polishes included is to create a gradation design. The set includes one pearly peach shade, a gold glitter with silver holographic hex glitter, and a straight up gold hex glitter.

I'm not quite sure how the naming of the individual polishes worked out because two glitters don't look orange at all to me. However, I will point out that each bottle is only 4 ml. or .14 fl. oz. and this set was around $20. I will admit that it's pretty pricey, but since I was doing my shopping blind with phone calls from my mom, I wasn't too hung up on exchange rates at the time.

When I finally got my hands on this set, I wasn't quite sure what to do with them. Inspiration was needed and I found mine at a wedding website of all places called, The Knot. You can click on the link to see the original look I was attempting to imitate.

So we finally get to my swatch. I used three coats of Soft Orange for the base, then sponged on the smaller gold glitter (Sweet Orange), and finished it off with some gold hex glitter (Fresh Orange). I have to say that the quality for all three was very nice. The smell was normal for nail polish and the drying time was pretty quick. The formula for the base shade, Soft Orange, was very smooth and applied like a dream. I had no trouble at all and didn't have to worry about brush strokes at all. I do have to say that I'm really enjoying my manicure at the moment since it's quite pretty.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your post. I actually think that the set that you have might not actually be '#1 Screw Driver' since I've seen other swatches online and the nailpolishes look quite different... (Maybe a production mistake or something?). Nonetheless, I really like your manicure :)

    1. You know, that probably explains why none of the polishes look very orange. Ah well, Vietnam is quite far away from me for anything to be done. At least the ones I do have are very nice too. =P

      And thanks for the compliment!

    2. I think you got the number 5 set, but with the outside paper packaging of set #1. That's very strange.
